In the end like with BrExit the doom and gloomers are out over the planned policies of Labour. One wonders if Labour is as hooked on bringing back manufacturing and other point-less acts as Donald Trump. However they do retain enough support among a section of economists – some of whom have been patronised by McDonnell. Indeed Chris Dillow said Labour’s critics were the Marxists as they did not believe reform of Capitalism would work and clearly they could not claim it is working now. As an indication of this
You can pretend that others in the political sphere have answers but they do not. All one is left to do is point out that left wing politics of the type Corbyn and McDonnell probably favour has always failed. That a large state is not a problem in and of itself but do people who think rent controls are not more inter-generational theft on their own and suggested by no one expert in the field have enough insight to produce a better society? Indeed their precious Venezuela’s main problems are caused by a toilet paper currency with a fixed exchange rate that is bollocks hence inflation as people try to buy real currency ironically to buy toilet paper.
I don’t like their priorities but my knock on Labour is not they are left wing but stuck in the 70s. With the mindset of Labour passim that you can just legislate what you don’t like people doing. To claim as with BrExit they are a huge problem to a dysfunctional economy is to give Labour credibility as they are not the present danger and prevent real questions of their competence and vision and solutions.
New Labour types cannot even acknowledge the pursuit of Tory 2015 voters would have been/was fruitless (triple lock and social care, dementia tax, barely dented those greedy Boomers’ votes). Whatever else Corbyn got the strategy right but guess what the sterling silver spoons of New Labour don’t even have the heart or analysis or brains to even acknowledge that. We seem to have something of a third party squeeze with the 3rd party being lots of other parties. The mains are polling at almost 80% up from 65%. Labour despite the loss of Scotland are polling better in England and Wales arguably than any time since 2001 at a general election. They will still be wiped out but hey ho. Then boundary changes kick in as their gerrymandering is unwound but there you go. The Liberals 8% seems to signal the death of Social Democracy and they have not pimped Liberalism (bar Neo Liberalism) in a long time.
So if you are in a marginal who ya got Labour or Tory? Anti Labour or Anti Tory? And yes I started a sentence with so and and, blow me. Continue reading “Labour V Conservative”
I note that establishments are talking about banning fake news so no British newspaper would be allowed? They [central banks] also want to ban cash. People miss that none of this will improve economic performance, quite the opposite with cash ban, but you only need 25% to control most democracies. UK TV is already essentially under Govt control by Offcom – stations are not allowed to say when they are censored either. You will also note as per snoopers charter this as much as one can tell with Labour is supported by both main parties.
Left squabbling over who is racist and pronouns is rather funny in this context. In the sense of funny but not funny a bit like Mr Corbyn and McDonnell really.
The point is that with money now ‘printed’ for our rulers and media under control in UK they don’t need a thriving economy just control. Indeed Putin would seem the ideal for the West’s rulers?
I am not sure those whose pathetic self esteem relies on looking down on Trump or BrExit voters realise quite why so many oppose what to them seems obvious logic backed up by experts. Now of course these people are not economists objecting on grounds of EU’s lack of democracy or economic theory to Mrs Clinton’s bogus nonsense.
But, there’s the rub. Continue reading “Not Wilfully Stupid”
The UK state controls a large proportion of the economy – far more than is obvious due to the State’s patronage or subsidy as I call it whether it be subsidy or tax breaks. However to move to a position of say a more Venezuela style state Socialism where various big projects dominate the economy and international capital runs for the hills is a different matter. Chance spent 40 years surrounded by plants unaware of the world.
Chance was patronised by wealthy sophisticates
These types found Chance’s homilies to contain hidden wisdom.
My point to the left is that if you believe your politics and want to avoid accidents like all other so called Socialist Govts then you won’t support this clown. He’s not leading anyone anywhere good even were he to win an election. He’s incompetent and stupid and a poor leader and worse at heart thinks his politics mean he has more virtue than others. He’s learned nothing. He has no ideas to move society on. He is really just Ed Miliband or Gordon Brown in cheaper clothing. A series of Govt measures some of which will appeal to the middle class.
Oddly now it is not the working class who want patronising leftist payments and transfers. It’s that shrinking middle who see their privilege being taken. Yet there is no demand for Land ownership just a series of pointless nationalisations and transfer payments. Nothing on wealth creation just spending more on infrastructure as an end in itself. It’s an incoherent echo of 70s’ leftism and things that sound virtuous.
