On the last poll 91% who expressed a preference said Lib Lab or Con. Now there are indications Labour may break the last 20 years of idiocy and a pretence. The Cons say they might but really when Cons spend more it goes to friends [Gordon Brown no doubt upset I did not add an ‘aussi’ there]. However to think that authoritarians like McDonnell and Corbyn really would improve the state of freedom in the country requires a considerable amount of LSD.
Left and right have warned about this and dystopian filmakers to boot. Nonetheless the idiocy backed by probably 500+ MPs is this that people should have no say over Govt services and that corporations should be sovereign – most of the rest are Socialists and are less worried about corporations albeit Tony Benn loved a big’un. Indeed this is the logic behind the right wing Tory BrExiters to tie the country down in trade deals that prevent legislation and progress on Health, Food and the Environment. To maintain the Monopoly side of capitalism: to make it a Zombie innovation less capitalism.
Trivial example was Sheffield signed an unbreakable PFI. Amey a Spanish company has since cut down 6000 trees rather than make trivial repairs to roads and pavements – no avenue for appeal or prevention. Historic trees, new trees, nice trees, ugly trees and uncle Tom Cobley anything is fair game to them, Environment Schmenvironment. In a corollary people went to the Arsenal board meeting and some examples of that mostly male class of never ending sociopathic front men ensured no one could speak – not even shareholders have say in this society.
No political party is planning on rolling back state and corporate power. The saddest part is I do not see people of any generation and class who want it back. People will vote for these awful parties and even a new Labour redux centre party would be worse than the SNP, Labour, Conservatives, Liberals, DUP and UKIP on this as they were neo Liberalism’s true believers.
Big State power to back corporate irresponsibility and suppression of rights, health and safety, and liberty means it is a profoundly depressing time for anyone who likes freedom and accountability.
The UK state controls a large proportion of the economy – far more than is obvious due to the State’s patronage or subsidy as I call it whether it be subsidy or tax breaks. However to move to a position of say a more Venezuela style state Socialism where various big projects dominate the economy and international capital runs for the hills is a different matter. Both candidates for the Labour leadership talked about negotiating with IS. Sorry this is not on. Continue reading “Labour’s Clown Show”
In 2010 and certainly 2015 against the advice of mainstream economists 90% of people voted for austerity parties yet when the poor voted BrExit they get odium. Adding to this the Govt has effectively given up on Austerity and will as a back stop use the Govt’s pet BoE to essentially buy up the deficit with free money. Or just take advantage of a 10 year gilt yielding 1%.
The septics have an expression ‘Check your privilege’ it seems appropriate here. Thus the Remain types (and the Boomers) have voted to kick the poor against economic advice and now rain blows on the poor for voting against less estimated damage. Indeed if the Land bubble bursts then the costs of Austerity will be higher and the gain less than nil. The poor might not like the EU but the justification for kicking the poor for the sake of it is? Or Occam’s Razor Labour and Conservative voters just hate the poor right back?
My non expert opinion [guess] on BrExit is now having undergone the turmoil and bluster of the last few days and the downside risks to delay now is just to put the economy in stasis for years and may not even allow people to keep the EU. Sadly fudge is the only thing this generation of venal sinecure desiring politicos believe in. Expect an extremely damaging time and even a 2nd referendum. After all the economy is just a tool for rhetoric not something Tories and Labour care about and today they openly admit it.
This shows the army of people who voted and generally do not vote in elections for me. The ones who maybe stopped voting Labour in 97 or 01 and were not there in 2005 – the Tories were so despised and the economy seemingly on track Labour actually had a majority off 35%.This minority are not interested in the kind of virtue signalling of Labour where expressions like ‘celebrating our diversity’ or any other I am a great person platitudes may even offend them. Only 2 refreshing moments of candour in this EU campaign. One was Corbyn saying the economic model demanded immigrants and yes more immigrants – that since UKIP is also neo Liberal anyone pontificating on this is lying or insane or a bureaucrat who wants more bureaucracy. The other was Michael Gove who undermined or underlined Dunning-Kruger by knowingly denying expertise, it’s left me confused this one is that prima facia D-K or taking the level of cuntishness to a whole new level?
Predictable sneers from Labour and Conservative flagwavers but on what issue has either party based its policies on the views of mainstream expertise?
- Economics No
- Drugs Policy No
- Prostitution No
- NHS ‘Reform’ No
- Environment No
- Legal ‘Reform’ No
- Nuclear Policy No
- Arms Procurement No
- Terrorism No
- Iraq No
- NOx Emissions No
As Britain’s greatest political brain Malcolm Tucker said to the minister when expertise does not agree with your opinion get another expert.
I’ve tried to tread the BrExit line on the grounds of removing EU and settling for EEA but this clearly is not on offer or would have to be imposed on the fruit loops and bigots who are the Leave Campaign post a Leave vote. The Leave campaign is a small cabal of rightists and immigrant haters every bit as elite as the Bullingdon Club. They would claim foul and the dead Labour party vote could in large measure in the North go straight to UKIP as it may anyway. People outside the asset bubble or London income already feel put upon and they are willing to believe the worst. Indeed the EU issue splits on age 50 and up and C2DE social groups Leave majorities. I would love to ram it down the ignorant self serving politicians and ABs as they support a Housing Boom economy [Wealth Illusion] with a massive trade deficit and think that’s actually working.
