I don’t know if the Doctor battered by some goons on a United plane had any mitigation or was merely shocked his pathetic “I’m a doctor I’m exempt from laws” did not work. However it’s interesting the story is not the Govt Goons who seem to have resorted in short order to violence. However anyone who has travelled knows that it is against the law to disobey unelected unappointed airline staff and the security to back them up – even if not law unless you are a lawyer with a judge handy de facto. Ok I held the line on Amazon… I tolerated the annoyance of finding a product and getting it nearly as cheap. The click and collectedness as delivery could be anytime. The lack of flexibility in delivery addresses etc. Then tried ebatteries.co.uk 2-5 days by Royal Mail. Then spent a month waiting till it was bleepin’ urgent. The goods now being sent from China by courier when I would not be there to collect them. As a non driver I can get to the Royal Mail’s depot but not some obscure estate in Poyle.
Then I used a one day delivery from the Amazon market place. In a further blow to protest Capitalism I got my money back thanks to PayPal. The moral of the story is a difficult one. Sure Amazon and other dump by using cheap money to undermine book shops – alternative view is they are making lots of money and keeping it hidden from tax.
In the end I will continue to source items away from Amazon but may avoid small companies that amount to a website and no obvious backup.
Chance spent 40 years surrounded by plants unaware of the world.
Chance was patronised by wealthy sophisticates
These types found Chance’s homilies to contain hidden wisdom.
My point to the left is that if you believe your politics and want to avoid accidents like all other so called Socialist Govts then you won’t support this clown. He’s not leading anyone anywhere good even were he to win an election. He’s incompetent and stupid and a poor leader and worse at heart thinks his politics mean he has more virtue than others. He’s learned nothing. He has no ideas to move society on. He is really just Ed Miliband or Gordon Brown in cheaper clothing. A series of Govt measures some of which will appeal to the middle class.
Oddly now it is not the working class who want patronising leftist payments and transfers. It’s that shrinking middle who see their privilege being taken. Yet there is no demand for Land ownership just a series of pointless nationalisations and transfer payments. Nothing on wealth creation just spending more on infrastructure as an end in itself. It’s an incoherent echo of 70s’ leftism and things that sound virtuous.
The only reason a sane left leaning person could have for staying in the EU is they fear what a muddled loony bin of 24/7 Surveillance and check points we will become and are becoming anyway. The EU as a construct is now ridiculous torn by nationalism and possibly German Ordo Liberalism that is in danger of giving the UK’s neo Liberalism a good name.
Britain is run for a minority who want to deny the young the advantages they had – free health, universal pension, returns on savings, free education, welfare safety net & peace, Common Market and security. Together with corporate, rural, oil, bankers and other sponger groups. Nonetheless this minority added with UKIP voters is over 50% of those who will vote so I would not rule out BrExit. The BrExit campaign itself is a conceit the UK can pretend Globalisation does not exist and that it is capable for delivering an immigration free Britain.
Essentially the issue is neo Liberalism. Issues with extra protection for rabidly authoritarian main parties in the UK are almost moot since they seem to have no trouble pushing their proto fascist agendas with ‘all’ party support. Of course with 95% supporting parties* committed to the cause of choice less joyless neo Liberalism BrExit is a minor issue albeit I am slightly in favour if only to show the EU free migration are meaningless in what ails the UK.

If you were around in the 80s you will realise that whilst it may exclude people from stating their views cracking on the poor and public sector workers even on the basis of crazy economics will not cost the Govt votes. Saying The Tories This and That is not going to get you anywhere bar a tower of self righteous conceit at the awfulness of your fellow man.
In the end however empathic pushing hapless victims of tax credits will just reinforce the Govt themes regardless of whether these cuts are necessary or provable as un-necessary – seriously who is spreading that message the execrable BBC? Maybe in a program watched by people who already know this!
Equally the Govt needs credible opposition to change itself if nothing else but we must be skeptical about this. What can Corbyn Labour do that Miliband Labour did not? He’s already surrendered on Austerity. Will he target Corporate subsidy AKA welfare even if it means accepting the closure of say Steel MIlls?
In many ways the soft left [hard ‘soft left’ for Overton viewers] views of Corbyn and his ilk have never tried to be elected before as they both recognise the primacy and hate Capitalism. I can forgive the initial confusions of taking over a party where 80% of MPs are sheep who could support, however de facto, the budget and would be in a worse position to complain. However, stepping from his Islington sinecure is poor preparation for leadership long term. The desire to be self righteous may be too strong.
I have tried blogging before but this is more personal and not meant for wide viewing. I have tried to understand the politics and economics of it all but realise that my aim should be to be a tertiary source at best.
Why should you listen to me?
I would like to think I can read pretty wonkish economic sources and am unaligned to a political party. I no more feel represented by Jeremy Corbin than David Cameron or any political parties.
The glib answer is cos I have gave up smoking but the other answer is so much media and stuff out there is either esoteric or part of the ongoing right left tedium.
