In the end like with BrExit the doom and gloomers are out over the planned policies of Labour. One wonders if Labour is as hooked on bringing back manufacturing and other point-less acts as Donald Trump. However they do retain enough support among a section of economists – some of whom have been patronised by McDonnell. Indeed Chris Dillow said Labour’s critics were the Marxists as they did not believe reform of Capitalism would work and clearly they could not claim it is working now. As an indication of this
You can pretend that others in the political sphere have answers but they do not. All one is left to do is point out that left wing politics of the type Corbyn and McDonnell probably favour has always failed. That a large state is not a problem in and of itself but do people who think rent controls are not more inter-generational theft on their own and suggested by no one expert in the field have enough insight to produce a better society? Indeed their precious Venezuela’s main problems are caused by a toilet paper currency with a fixed exchange rate that is bollocks hence inflation as people try to buy real currency ironically to buy toilet paper.
I don’t like their priorities but my knock on Labour is not they are left wing but stuck in the 70s. With the mindset of Labour passim that you can just legislate what you don’t like people doing. To claim as with BrExit they are a huge problem to a dysfunctional economy is to give Labour credibility as they are not the present danger and prevent real questions of their competence and vision and solutions.
I was just reading a good guy who was saying how proud he was of Danny Boyle’s Olympic ceremony and how proud he was of the country etc etc at that point. It makes a point of course that so called progressives are as proud and nationalistic as anyone but with an ambition for the country to be better and dare one say good. Yet they seem unprepared to look under the hood. In the same ways they don’t travel on buses in outer London full of bitter old and poor tired of being lectured on what they eat and smoke. Even Boyle’s centring on GOSH was hardly great given that Hospital Trusts bullying of doctors and the wholesale deaths and cover ups of Foundation Hospital moves not to mention 100s dying of preventable MRSA and CDIFF as Doctors and Administrators cashed in on dirty hospitals and Labour did nothing.
From 80s deaths squads to support for murderous theological wars in Yemen and over throwing Govts it does not like the Americans of Charlottesville are who we know Americans to be. Sure we chat to our liberal friends on the coast and they decry Trump and rightly so. Yet they have allowed him here through voter disinterest and indifference to how the economic idiocy called policy has for 37 years affected others and shrunk the middle class and the security of pensions. A country where most people are one family illness from bankruptcy.
The appalling ideas of racial segregation now less Jim Crow more institutional instruments, and cultural creations of US military pimps Hollywood. The ridiculous concept of trickle down economics. Stealing 3rd world utilities under the guise of Aid. Tolerating corrupt murderers who do their bidding. The concept of judicial murder by Drone.
The guff that Mrs Clinton and Mr Obama have produced about “this is not us” – try telling the rest of the world that. Now they want to separate and pretend that this is not the result of their work. They want poor and ignorant to just accept their lot without reaching desperately for the idiocy of an Orange silver spooned clown when all they offer was more of the same delivered by arguably the most patronising voice of the self righteous Democrats. They’ve sent people in a direction and then complain how far they take it and their reaction to it.
Even being right about LGBT, racial differences and women’s rights can’t be done in a non virtue signalling way that would win people over to its transparent correctness.
Democrats preach equality but push inequality and their own sense of self goodness and wonder why others don’t agree.
A popular meme is to contrast the European attitude to accepting Muslim refugees and other migrants because they are like the Jews so horribly let down in the 1930s. The habit of otherwise liberal westerners to equate Jews and Muslims and essentially challenge people not to be the made up Islamaphobia label. Continue reading “No Comparison”
Neo Libs final admit they are into Liberalism – the illiberal running of society on a specious belief in absurdly labeled ‘free’ markets. They’re very good at claiming reductions in poverty that are nothing to do with their policies and changing of criteria to pretend that’s true. Continue reading “neo Liberalism: It Runs Deep”
Yes you may feel that the UK has presented us with 2 horrible choices for Govt but 82% of those who voted voted for them. You might feel we are trapped between 2 incompatibles whereby one buys off the young and the other the Boomers. In America you might now realise it was not which kneecap but 1 or both and you have chosen wrongly. You might feel wherever in the West you are trapped by a Kleptocracy or Plutocracy or Idiotocracy or Crony Capitalism. You might feel you have a diminishing democracy. New Labour types cannot even acknowledge the pursuit of Tory 2015 voters would have been/was fruitless (triple lock and social care, dementia tax, barely dented those greedy Boomers’ votes). Whatever else Corbyn got the strategy right but guess what the sterling silver spoons of New Labour don’t even have the heart or analysis or brains to even acknowledge that.
